Real Lawyer Statistics on the Internet

By Byron Warnken

The Internet is good for many things, but as I begin the journey of publishing real statistics on lawyers to help perspective clients, I’d like to highlight three.

1.) Truth

You cannot hide what really happened, if there is a record of what really happened.  Public data is a record.  The Internet is making access to public data easier.

2.) Synthesizing Large Amounts of Data

Data processing used to be a skill of “computing.”  Now it’s a skill of the Internet.  The Internet is the computer.  (I’ve heard one or two people call it “the cloud.”)

3.) Connection

The search engine is the greatest time saver ever invented.  People need to find.  Other people need to get found.  It happens more quickly than ever.

A perspective client often has no idea how to find a lawyer.  That uncertainty leads to fear.  That fear leads to gravitation towards the first place that brings comfort.  That’s usually the most familiar legal face on the television.

What is the only attribute you know for certain that particular lawyer possesses?  The largest marketing budget.

Transparency, for lawyers, has not been a top priority.   Transparency, at the Injury Lawyer Database, is our number one priority.

We will provide real statistics about lawyers.  Perspective clients can use those statistics to make better decisions about hiring a lawyer.  We will start with Maryland, as we have real data on lawyers from the Maryland Judiciary and the Maryland Workers’ Comp Commission.

We will then publish statistics on lawyers throughout the United States.
